Dominic Yap

I am a 23 year old 3rd year Undergraduate from Singapore studying BSc International Management at the University of Warwick, currently on exchange for the full year at the University of British Columbia. I am a highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills developed over my educational years. I enjoy working well with others together and I’m very flexible and adaptable with my work.

This summer I interned at a technological company with their main offering of selling educational ecosystem software’s to various educational institutions across Singapore. Throughout my experience, I had built relationships with the full time team by assisting them in their projects which saw me undertake various tasks such as the consolidation of finances, market research, as well as planning of business strategies. This developed my experience with working in a high paced environment as I actively attended various meetings with the team to coordinate new business ideas. Furthermore, my collaborative and analytical skills further developed through these daily challenges being faced and thus fostering my innovative and creative mindset in different business environments.

Through my part time job, I had gained various practical experiences as a sales representative for an outdoor furniture company in Singapore. I was thoroughly engaged in various market research for new complementary products to our current product offerings. Furthermore, I had to adopt various marketing skills to promote our brand towards various different housing establishments in Singapore such as Digital Marketing strategies to expand online sales and social media presence. On a day to day basis, I will be stationed in the company sales shop and will have to interact with consumers to pitch and sell our products. As a result, my communication and selling skills have improved whilst working in a competitive and dynamic environment. 

Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Sciences in International Management.
