About Janka Wong:
I am a La Trobe University undergraduate at PSB Academy with a bachelor's in molecular biology and biotechnology. I have a strong interest in food product formulations and food in general and hence my passion to join the food or flavors and fragrances industry.
Experience
I have interned both in a food company (Seng Hua Hng Foodstuff Pte Ltd) and a flavors and fragrance company (Symrise). In Symrise, I was under the beverage department and I have covered a wide range of beverage preparations (e.g. coffee, tea, carbonated soft drinks, functional drinks, alcoholic drinks, powder drinks, syrups, ice cream, dairy, etc). I have learnt to use the different types of mixing equipment and basic thermal processing processes, learnt the properties of packaging materials used in beverages and familiarized with appropriate food ingredients used in beverages and their functionality and ensure compliance based on food/country legislations. Moreover, I executed a solo project to test and find the best gum combination and dosage that works in frozen beverages in terms of physical stability, viscosity and sensory attributes. In Seng Hua Hng Foodstuff Pte Ltd, I worked with food technologists to improve the formulation of existing food products, performed quality control testing on incoming raw materials to ensure that they are within the specifications. Moreover, I have assisted in the formulation of a new product which was eventually launched in the market.
Education
I am a La Trobe University undergraduate at PSB Academy and I will be graduating roughly in end August. I am currently pursuing a bachelor's in molecular biology and biotechnology.
