I am a 22 year old student enrolled in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) under the Double Degree Programme of Double Degree in Computer Science and Business (specialisation in Business Analytics). I love to work with computers and since young, I was fascinated at what can be achieved with the power of technology. I chose this course because of my profound interest in programming and analytics as a whole. As an extrovert, I love working with people and interacting with them, hence, I picked Business as my second degree in order to diversify my skillsets and work on my soft skills such as interpersonal communication and presentation skills. 

My interest and hobbies consists of personal development and sports. In University, I am currently in the Hall 16 Basketball team. Being in a team sport not only allows me to maintain my fitness, but also lets me see the importance of teamwork, working together and capitalising on each others strengths and weaknesses. I am also holding a leadership position in the the Hall 16 Junior Common Room Committee, as a Sports Director. This position allows me to hone my skills as a leader and learn the importance of servant leadership by providing my services to my hall committee. Having the opportunity to manage all 21 sports and sports captains also gave me the learning opportunity to see the importance of interpersonal relations and how to communicate and work with people from all walks of life.

Despite the short timespan I spent in NTU, I picked up valuable skillsets such as the coding languages C, Python and R. I was also exposed to basic machine learning and artificial intelligence where I embarked on a project which utilizes machine learning to detect fake news. Using what was taught in the classroom and supplementing that knowledge with self taught techniques such as natural language processing and data visualization techniques. I also learnt about statistics and how to use R to extract and visualize data. In addition to my commitment to studies, I am also a founder of a software development company of my own, developing mobile applications on demand. I am fortunate enough to be able to work with large corporations as well as hone my skills in terms of mobile application design and my familiarity with the flutter framework. I also enrolled in an external course outside of my curriculum to widen my skillsets and picked up the coding language, SQL. A language which I feel is a must have if I were to seek opportunities in the data analytics field. SQL is a language that is widely used in the industry today to manage multiple databases as well as its use in relational databases. This skillset enables me to manage and organize data efficiently. 

Lastly, I am comfortable with taking up leadership roles. As the Sports Director of the Hall 16 Junior Common Room Committee, I was able to lead a subcommittee of 5 members and headed the planning of several events. I was in-charge of managing the 21 different sports available in my hall and their respective captains. Liaising and coordinating so many sports had put my people relations and management skills to the test. One notable event during my tenure was being a part of the planning of NTU’s annual Inter-Hall Games, a school wide sports event which required the coordination of 23 different halls and interaction with the school committee. 

Overall, I am confident that the skills and knowledge I have acquired will put me in a good position to excel. There are some key attributes that I would like to highlight. I am comfortable in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and can contribute to the team effectively. I love to learn and pick up new skills, within and outside of my field of expertise. I believe that I have good communication and interpersonal skills. As a result, I am able to build relationships fast and integrate myself into new environments smoothly.
