Rida Minhaj

I am an Engineering Science major at NUS, starting my fourth and final year in the coming August. 

My first two years were various foundation classes such as Linear Algebra, Advanced Calculus, Mechanics and Waves, Applied Quantum Physics, and Applied Solid State Physics. My last two years primarily consist of classes more relating to my specialisation in Nanotechnology. 

I'm also doing a minor in Computer Science, and have taken such classes as Data Structures and Algorithms, and Media Computing as part of it. 

Internships:

• Research Intern at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering at A*STAR in 2022, studying magnetic interactions within multilayer thin films.

Research Project:

• Semester-long research project under the Mechanobiology Institute at NUS, studying the dynamics of protein clusters in cellular focal adhesions.

Design Projects:

• Built a rain sensor, and a sensor-based sheltering device with it over a semester. I lead the electrical design and coding.
• Built an accelerometer-based washer cycle detection device in a pair project. 
• Made a device which measures quantum tunnelling with feedback control.
• Created a study group mobile app using React Native and Firebase.
• Modelled airflow in face masks.
• Designed a bridge optimising strength-to-weight ratio using Dlubal.
