Thomas Lim

I am a creative who believes that good design is a user-centric one. Never taking things as they are, always questioning and investigating beyond what is given. With that, you would often find me actively trying to understand the users and always asking how we would be able to solve problems in a more user-focused way in order to leave better solutions than how we initially found them. 

Apart from that, I find joy in working on projects across various disciplines, from print to digital, in order to bring ideas to life. Out and about, I am also a wanderer who loves to explore and capture moments.

I am an UX designer who believes that good design is user centric. Always seeking the root cause of problems through understanding my users needs directly and indirectly. I would actively tackle problems from various angles, never limiting myself to just one aspect of the problem presented. I will always look for early opportunities and potential problems to preempt where problems arise to make effective and timely impacts.

Prior to my experience in UX, I was a graphic designer experienced in designing as a means of communication. Being equipped with a background in branding, I am familiar with employing strategies to help clients to achieve consistent and effective brand messaging and goals. This is often done through deep research of looking out on their competitors and industry trends to problem-solve, before going to an extensive ideation phase where I would expand and refine the ideas into a single best solution. Branding and graphic design to me is a tool for me to better approach the user problems that my clients present and I seek to translate such principles to support my UX practice.

During my time in General Assembly, I was able to work on UX projects that focus on user research, prototyping, and developing real-life solutions for my users, as well as to deepen my understanding in User Experience.

Key Projects:

1. Let’s Amoy!
A food ordering mobile solution for the busy customers as well as the merchants at Amoy Street Food Centre. This solution allows customers to easily place orders through a customer-facing app, while merchants can streamline their operations by using the business-facing app.

2. Analytico Asia
A website content reorganisation for a data consultancy firm. Seeking to enhance positive and trusted experiences throughout various points of the user's journey on the website, a content strategy guide was also involved in the website reorganisation.

3. Noah Gardens Centre
A website redesign for an eCommerce plant store. This project involved the restructuring of the information architecture of the site to assist users to visualise the ownership of their plants better and to be better assured for their purchase.
