Wang Xinyun

My name is Wang Xinyun and I'm currently a Year 4 majoring in Psychology in NUS with a 4.37 CAP, graduating next month. I am very interested in pursuing a full-time Associate Psychologist position.

I strive to pursue a career in clinical and counselling psychology and feel that an associative psychologist position will provide me with additional practical and theoretical knowledge into how psychological services such as psychotherapy and counselling are being applied in the field. It would also allow me to gain a first hand look into what being a counsellor and psychologist would entail in a real life working situation. Of course, I believe that I would be a valuable addition to the team as well. I have worked in several service industries and am able to deal with various types of people with utmost compassion, concern and patience. I have also worked as a tutor in tuition centres and I believe that that puts me at an edge over others as I have prior experience working with children. Furthermore, as a budding associate psychologist, I have also taken up several research and social work internships, which have provided me with the necessary skills on data collection and analysis. Finally, I am a hardworking, resilient and fast learner and am willing to put my all into whatever tasks I have been handed in order to achieve the best version of myself. I have worked in Research Assistant and Social Services positions as part of my internships. They have provided me with the necessary skills to collect, analyse, and schedule data for various types of research. Social Services have also allowed me to build empathy for the mental health scene in Singapore and cultivated my passion to help those suffering. Of course, I have also learnt to provide the appropriate psychological help through these experiences. Finally, they have allowed me to develop a kinship with children and my social interaction skills with people of all ages, greatly benefitting me when working with these populations.
