Zhi Qi Chew

I am Zhi Qi, a Year 2 Business Analytics student from the National University of Singapore, looking for a credit-bearing 6 months, full-time internship. My availability period is from 08 May 2023 to 20 October 2023, however, I am open to extending it till December. 

As a Business Analytics major, I have completed several modules that have built my skills in data management and analytics such as Data Management and Visualisation, Business Concepts and Metrics for Analytics, and Data Structures and Algorithms. Through these modules, I learned how to work with databases using SQL, as well as gained knowledge on computer science concepts such as algorithms and OOP, through Python and Java. I have also gained valuable experience in machine learning through my past project, Orbital, where my partner and I used python to build a machine-learning model to evaluate the general sentiment of modules by employing Sentiment Analysis and Web Scraping techniques. We also used Github to keep track of our code and launch our website.

Currently, I am working as a part-time Product research and Business Analyst intern at Y Suites Student Accommodation, a start-up company under Wee Hur Hospitality. My job scope involves analyzing product viability and generating innovative solutions to the company’s problems. Juggling both school and work has definitely developed me into an independent problem solver. Not only has this internship made me a better team player, but I have also learned the importance of time management.

In my spare time, I like to participate in volunteer projects to give back to the community. Last year, I was part of the planning committee of an NUS community service project, called Grant-a-Wish, where we organized events for children at the Rainbow center and gave them gifts bought by NUS students through our self-initiated campaigns. 

I am currently studying Business Analytics, where I am exposed to a wide array of modules designed to develop ICT programming skills, analytics techniques, and deep business knowledge (e.g. systems development for business analytics, data-driven marketing).
