Denise Yap

I have more than 9 years of experience counselling youths in various settings, which includes social service agencies and schools. I am passionate about mental health, in particular youth mental health, counselling intervention, as well as outreach. I enjoy providing clinical supervision to younger clinicians as well.

I enjoy a challenge at work and love working in a team. 

I am trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I have also received training to be a clinical supervisor. I am both a registered counsellor and registered clinical supervisor with the Singapore Association for Counselling. 

I have more than 9 years of experience counselling youths in various settings. I have also provided clinical supervision to the team of counsellors that I manage in my current place of employment, Calvary Community Care (C3).

For the last 5 years at C3, I had the privilege of growing the programme where our caseload has increased by fourfold since I first joined. Through this experience, I managed to grow in my clinical supervision skills and now supervise a team of staff, volunteers and interns in their clinical work. Gradually, my role has moved from being purely clinical to including aspects of management. It has been exciting to be a part of this fast expansion and I would like to share more about this if given an opportunity to.

Previously, I had worked with youths in a school setting and am familiar with the education system in Singapore. i am also familiar with crisis management.
