    Summary

  • Ensure the accurate and timely submission of all tax compliance tasks for the Lidl Asia Group.
  • Execute transfer pricing policies and documentation.
  • Maintain open dialogue with external tax advisors on tax matters.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to identify the possible tax impact of proposed business activities.
  • Contribute to the statutory audit process, including reviewing tax provisioning and tax notes.
  • Handle tax reporting to International HQ.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant accounting and tax laws.
  • Assist Tax Manager with other ad-hoc tax projects.
  • What you'll do

  • Administer all tax compliance matters, including Corporate Tax, Indirect Tax, Transfer Pricing, and Withholding Tax.
  • Cover multiple regions across Asia, including Singapore, Hong Kong, and China; ensuring compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
  • Ensure all corporate and indirect tax returns and are prepared, reviewed, and sub-mitted accurately and on time.
  • Support the Tax Manager in developing and implementing tax-efficient strategies to optimise the company's tax position and minimise tax liabilities.
  • Participate in tax structuring initiatives, including restructuring activities, to achieve tax optimisation goals while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support the creation of transfer pricing documentation in compliance with local transfer pricing regulations and OECD guidelines, ensuring consistency with inter-company transactions.
  • Assist in identifying tax risks and opportunities, assessing their potential impact on the business.
  • Assist in tax accounting processes, including tax provision calculations, deferred tax asset/liability analysis, and reconciliation of tax accounts in accordance with local and Group accounting standards.
  • Support the resolution of tax queries, including preparing responses and gathering supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with International HQ to fulfil various tasks and reporting requirements.
  • Update management on the latest tax developments.
  • Assist with tax incentive management.
  • Review quarterly VAT/GST returns and manage VAT/GST schemes.
  • Manage the Tax Ledger.
  • Provide ad-hoc project support.
  • What you'll need

  • University graduate in a Tax, Accounting or Finance discipline
  • Recognised professional tax and/or accounting qualification is a must.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax compliance, tax planning, or tax consulting
  • Experience in Big 4 and/or MNC is preferred.
  • Experience with tax accounting principles, including tax provision calculations and financial statement disclosures.
  • Proficiency in transfer pricing documentation and related compliance requirements
  • Detailed minded, strong analytical skills with extensive experience and knowledge of Singapore and Hong Kong tax
  • Experience and knowledge of China tax and international tax is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English & Mandarin, both spoken and written.
  • Knowledge of the German language is an advantage.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc)
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance
  • Experience of working with accounting systems - knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
