The Role:
As the Data Engineering Director, you will oversee the strategy, architecture, development, and operation of Airwallex's data and AI platforms. You will play a pivotal role in influencing data-driven and AI-powered decision-making processes. A key aspect of your role will also include building a high-performing team that excels in a fast-paced environment. Your leadership will be critical in mentoring the team, promoting a culture of innovation, and driving technical excellence.

Qualifications:
Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years experience in data engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role. Successful track records in transforming an organization into a data-driven organization. Expertise in big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka. GCP experience is preferred, but AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, CloudFront, etc.) with docker and Kubernetes are great too. Proven track record in technical mentorship and leadership. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Familiarity with Agile methodologies. Flexibility to work across global time zones is required. Exposure to working on high-volume distributed systems. Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures. Previous experience in FinTech is a plus.
