    Roles & Responsibilities

    Your role

    Do you have sound knowledge of Asian equity markets and Equity Long/Short investment strategies? Are you full of innovative ideas that will help us generate alpha? Do you want to be a part of a growing business within a well-established asset management platform?

    We're looking for a portfolio manager to:

    • manage a Fundamental Equity Long/Short mandate
    • have a specialist focus on Soft Event/Restructuring strategies and Holding Company Arbitrage in Japan/Korea
    • provide additional coverage for regional share class arbitrage and capital markets opportunities in Japan
    • perform detailed fundamental industry research including regular meetings with corporate management teams followed up with written reports to be shared with the Asia team
    • conduct disciplined and prudent risk management, ensuring adherence to broader fund guidelines
    • provide the APAC CIO with weekly written updates and share at team meetings to highlight key views/risks and performance of the portfolio
    • identify scalable ideas for the benefit of the broader portfolio and share insights with the global O'Connor team where relevant

    Your team

    You will be joining a team of 11 investment professionals in the Asia Pacific region focusing on Relative Value Equity Long/Short Strategies. The team is part of O'Connor, UBS Asset Management's single manager hedge fund business. The fund has a relative value, low net, equity long/short mandate with multiple different strategies focused on the APAC region.

    Your expertise

    • ideally 5+ years of experience as an Equity Long/Short portfolio manager or analyst focusing on APAC.
    • Strong academic background, preferably in either economics, finance or related discipline
    • solution-oriented thinker with strong skills of communication and collaboration
    • organized and focused on results, with the ability to work accurately under pressure
